Traditional property in Hydra

The house is part of a large four-story, mansion, traditional house, built on a plot of 580 square meters. It is separated in a natural way from the rest of the volume of the building and is an independent maisonette. The year of construction is unknown and probably dates back to the late 18th century. It is located on the main road of Hydra that leads to Kiafa, the first residential center of Hydra and continues to the top of the mountain where the monastery of Prophet Ilias is located. It is only 3 minutes from the port (250m).
Entering the property there is a garden that leads to the ground floor apartment and an external staircase connects the 1st floor. The ground floor apartment is 99 sq.m. It consists of a single living room with kitchen, 2 bedrooms and a very comfortable bathroom with shower. The large bedroom is built into the rocks and has the best microclimate for a restful and enjoyable sleep.
A notable feature is the foundation rocks which are included in the small bedroom on the ground floor and give it a special atmosphere and architecture. The ground floor ceiling consists of the traditional wooden planks that support the floor of the upper floor. Additional multi-layer insulation has been done (old floorboards – double layer of dense cork – dense and coarse rockwool – marine plywood – new oak floors), gives a very high percentage of sound insulation has been ensured with the upper compartment. The roof belongs to the house but is an impassable roof and has limited use. There is a concrete slab with iron bars and no other support repair is needed.
